Brief essay on the duty cinema has to fulfill. Despite all the possibilities it offers, cinema still has to come into its own. Its essentially visual nature can be used to promote "Anschaulichkeit" besides the abstraction of books and other teaching aids and methods. But as a visual instrument it does more than merely reflect reality; its changes of speed and scale can provide new ways to show the world. For these reasons it cannot be merely an additonal, but a relevant educational tool. Conditional is that cinema, as a quintessential mass medium, doesn't alienate itself from the people lest it will wither.
